My Makeup Routine

I’m definitely not a makeup guru, but I do enjoy applying some makeup most days. I’ve experimented with a variety of products, and I’ve come to really love the products below. I’m really picky with the quality as well as I want the products to look really natural.

My routine takes me no more than 10 minutes, and I am constantly multi-tasking in between layers to let things dry and set. For instance, I’ll apply my concealer, and while that is setting, I’ll blow dry my hair. I find this time as my self-care time for the day, and it makes me feel good.

Concealer – This is probably no surprise as it seems everyone uses the Tarte Shape Tape concealer, but it lives up to its hype. I use it under my eyes and to cover any blemishes. It has really good coverage and lasts all day.

Tinted Moisturizer – I used to use a foundation, but I didn’t like how it wasn’t looking very natural anymore. And thankfully now with a good skin care routine, my skin is pretty even, and I don’t need to cover up a lot of anything, so I’ve switch primarily to , Beautycounter’s Dew Skin(No.2).  and this one is hands-down my favorite. It is a perfect level of coverage without being cakey. The finish is very natural-looking and lasts all day.

Powder – The Beautycounter’s Mattifying Powder is great for setting my foundation. I also use the Mattifying Powder as a primer on my eyelids before applying eyeshadow

Eyebrow Pencil – I like to fill in my brows with the NYX Fill & Fluff Eyebrow Pencil (color: Brunette). I like it because the product dispenses easily on my eyebrows where other pencils feel so dry to me.

Eyebrow Gel – I was so excited when Beautycounter came out with a brow gel. It is so good, and it is super easy to use. You just use the little spoolie brush and comb through your eyebrow hairs to fill in sparse areas and unify the color throughout your eyebrows.

Mascara – I’ve always used two mascaras at a time. I’m not sure how this ever happened, but I’ve been combining mascaras for years. I first apply a couple coats of Maybelline Volum’ Express Mascara in the waterproof version. I’ve found that if I don’t use a waterproof version, my eyelashes become uncurled. My eyelashes are naturally straight, so I curl them with an eyelash curler, and if I don’t use a waterproof mascara, they automally go back o beingg straight. I’m not sure how this works, but I this is what I’ve found to be true. After the Maybelline mascara, then I will use Tarte’s Tartelette Tubing Macara. This adds even more volume and length to my lashes.

Bronzer – I love the dimension a bronzer gives. I’ve tried a few bronzer’s but the Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer is the perfect shade of bronzy-brown for my skin, and I love the subtle sheen it gives my face. I recetntly tried another popular brand from Sephora, and the color was way to orange for my skin.

Blush – I discovered this Tarte

Highlighter –

Eyeliner – I will use

Lips – If I put something on my lips, it is almost always Beautycouter’s lip glosses, especially the Peony, Bare Shimmer, or Blush Shimmer colors.
