What a year for running–a lot of training without a lot of races. This is going to be kind of a lame review of my running stats because I only ran 3 races, there were no PRs, but I did try trail running for the first time!
I do feel fortunate to be running so well after baby #2, and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting back into shape after having Bjorn 15 months ago. In some ways I didn’t seem to bounce back as quickly the second time around, but I also think my fitness is going to surpass where I was with Cullen five years ago very soon!
A look at my running stats from 2020:
Total miles: 2614 miles
Average daily miles: 7.1 miles/day
Average weekly miles: 50.2 miles/week
Highest weekly mileage: 78 miles
Longest run: 21 miles (6 months postpartum)
Places I ran: Anchorage, Alaska
Trail runs: Lost Lake, Symphony Lake
Races I ran: Heart Run 5K (virtual), Hightail Quarter Marathon, and Zombie Half Marathon
4/18/20 – Alaska Heart Run 5K – virtual (Anchorage, AK) – 19:18
7/19/20 – Hightail Quarter Marathon (Anchorage, AK) – 42:36
10/10/20 – Zombie Half Marathon (Anchorage, AK) – 1:28:51
PRs: none
Favorite race: Hightail Quarter Marathon
Biggest high: getting fit again postpartum the second time around
Biggest low: sadly so many this year, but I have enjoyed the process of training, and I am ready to race again!
Hardest workout: 12 x 400 meters
Favorite memory: stroller runs with my boys, nailing hard track workouts early in the morning
Coldest run: -5*F (January was a downright cold month altogether.)
Hottest run: 70*F (at best–ha!)
Naturally, I am optimistic about 2021–can things really get worse than 2020?! I am hopeful at least some of our smaller races will be able to happen this summer, and I hope I can run at least one marathon this year to put all of my hard work to good use.
I know in order to reach my goal of a sub-3 hour marathon it is going to take months upon months (maybe even a year or two) of hard work to get to where I want to be, so I will keep putting in the hard work each day in hopes of reaching my goal some day.
I hope you keep following along on this little ol’ blog of mine. It has been quite a journey over the last 7 years of trying to secure this sub-3 hour marathon, so I am hoping 2021 is my year to make it happen!
Wow, Im always so impressed when you post your running stats. 50 miles a week on average?! Amazing! This is the year that my goal is to run an ultramarathon.
I’ll be cheering you on from afar!
