Friday Favorites

It’s Friday, and it is a three day weekend, so there’s a lot to be excited about!

I have some loose plans for the weekend but nothing set-in-stone. I hope to get outside for a hike with the family and knock out a bunch of work, which sounds boring, but I love my work, and I love the feeling of being able to check things off my to-do list, so I’m don’t mind.

It has been a while since I’ve done a ‘favorites’ post, and I have quite a few things to share–everything from a favorite trail run to a new pair of mom jeans to the best dry shampoo I have ever used.

I am enjoying wearing a few transitional pieces as we move into fall and the cooler weather we are starting to have. I am trying to hold off wearing too many chunky sweaters yet since there will be plenty of time to do that during the 5+ months of winter here. Sigh. . . .

I just got this top, and I love it. I especially love the color. It is not a color I would normally buy, but I love it for the fall months ahead. You can’t see it in the picture, but it has a pretty embroidering detail on it.

While the weather is starting to turn to fall, I am holding onto summer just a little bit longer with this nail color because I can’t say no to the perfect color of coral on my nails.

I have also been using my own gel polish at home as I haven’t gone to a nail salon since quarantine started in March. I think I went in January or February, but I haven’t gone much this year and instead have just been doing my nails at home, which has definitely saved me a lot of money.

If you are still wearing shorts, these lululemon shorts are definitely a favorite of mine. The waistband is really stretchy and accommodating to anyone’s body shape, and they also come in a longer 4-inch inseam. This sports bra is also a favorite of mine and made my list of top running sports bras.

I feel like I have been on the hunt for the perfect dry shampoo, and I can say I have finally found it! It is effective for my notoriously-greasy hair, and I love that it has ingredients that are safer. Plus the ‘dispenser’ is perfect and doesn’t cause the product to get all over my clothes like another dry shampoo I’ve tried.

I purchased a pair of mom jeans several months ago, but they no longer fit, so I had to purchase a new pair, and I love these even more. They are definitely more forgiving, and I can actually squat down in them which is a must when watching the kids all day. I love the light wash, the distressing, and the slightly cropped length. Right now they are on sale for less than $50.

I’ve started to wear tights on some of my runs. I’ve raved about these running tights before, and I will continue to sing their praises because they are worth every. single. penny. which is saying a lot from this frugal shopper. This sports bra is also one of my favorites, and I was able to wear it during my pregnancy and postpartum.

I finally had the opportunity to do a trail run two weekends ago! I have been wanting to run the Lost Lake trail just north of Seward for YEARS now! Normally I wouldn’t sacrifice time on the trails for my road marathon training, but if there is any time to try something new, it is now.

I went with three other friends, and we lucked out with a picture-perfect day and incredible weather. The trail was 14.25 miles, and we took our time running it in 2:45 hours.

If you ever make it to Alaska, I’d highly recommend this trail.

I have been (not so) patiently waiting for the Brilliant Brow Gel to come back into stock all summer, and my brows are finally at peace. I can’t go without filling in my brows anymore as it makes such a difference for how it pulls my makeup together. For the Labor Day weekend, Beautycounter is giving away a full-sized bottle of the Melting Body Balm with a purchase of $125 or more. (Any of the links will allow you to shop with me if you so choose.)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with whatever your plans are. It feels weird not to have BBQs and do things with friends and family in larger gatherings, but I guess we should be used to it by now?!

I’m off to help Cullen with his Zoom class and tidy up the house before Bjorn wakes up from his nap.

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
