Things I’m Loving Lately #15

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Cullen and I were busy all week going to parks, putting puzzles together, taking walks, and having a play date. I coached some local athletes, wrote a couple new blog posts, and stepped up my training with some quality workouts.

I’ve got some of my favorite things in this blog post that I wanted to share with you guys: a relatively new brand of running shoes, the best pizza dough that you don’t have to made ahead of time, and an amazing Beautycounter sale.

Beautycounter blush, highlighter, bronzer, eyebrow pencil, and lipstick.

I finally got around to purchasing the Oiselle Hawkeye Tank and updated Mac Roga Shorts that I tried on in Seattle when I went to the Oiselle flagship store. (Which on a side note, was really cool and cute, but a lot smaller than I was expecting.)

I absolutely love the tank. The back mesh panel is really fun, and the fit is awesome. (If you are in between sizes, I recommend sizing down though.) The latest version of the Mac Rogas fit roomier in the thighs than the previous version. I love that they are insanely comfortable, don’t ride up, and the material has the perfect amount of stretch. (You can also use these links to shop for the tank and a very similar par of shorts on sale but sizes are limited.)

If you are interested in trying a new up-and-coming running shoe brand, definitely go try on some On running shoes. I wore the Cloudace for a run this past week, and I was presently surprised how much I liked them. They are roomy in the toebox, have the perfect amount of responsiveness without being too squishy that my foot sinks into the shoe and doesn’t bounce back, and they are just so fun and different.

I have always made pizza dough the day before I was going to actually make pizza because that’s what all of the best recipes say to do. Well, after discovering this recipe, it is just too easy not to make it that day because it is ready in 15 minutes.

I made this caprese pizza a couple weeks ago with fresh basil from our garden, and this week I made the Roasted Cauliflower & Za’atar Pizza, which was so good!

I finally got some silicone rings of myseld. I found myself not wearing my wedding ring when running early in the morning and when I went to lift at the gym. Not the end of the world, but the fun colors and designs of Enso rings tipped me, and I finally bit the bullet. I have to say that I find myself wearing these almost as much as my real rings because they are so comfortable. I bought several different colors, so it has been fun to mix and match them.

I have been trying to do a better job post-workout to refuel properly and get some good proteins in. Since I often don’t feel like eating, smoothies have been hitting the spot for me.

1+ cup almond milk
1/2 frozen banana
1 scoop protein powder
2 scoops collagen
handful of spinach
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon cacao nibs
handful of ice

I have been keeping track of my daily workouts for over 10 years now. I love being able to flip through a book quickly and glance back at previous workouts. I write in my training log every day and record how I felt, what I did, and any other notables. There are a lot of other motivational excerpts in the book, areas to write your long-term plans, tips and tricks, and advice from the professionals.

I hope you have a great rest of your weekend. Sadly, the weather is starting to feel a little to fall-ish, so I think it is going to be back to wearing a long sleeve and pants all too soon. The good news is that I get to go to Minnesota at the end of August to see my new niece for a couple of weeks. I can’t wait!!

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
