This is exactly how I have been feeling all week. The soreness I experience after running a marathon is like no other!
I have been in full recovery mode this week from the marathon on Sunday:
splurging on unhealthy snacks. . . .
enjoying a skinny decaf pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. . . .
I have also been sleeping in and staying up until 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. every night! My normal bedtime used to be 8:30 or 9:00 p.m.!
It has been very nice to come directly home after work (instead of going for a run or to the gym to lift) making dinner, hanging out with Craig, and taking Sadie for walks.
Yet at the same time, I miss the routine of running every morning. I did run for 1.75 miles this morning. It was very slow, and I can tell my body is still recovering from the marathon though.
Craig and I don’t often have lunch together, but we decided to meet up for lunch today at Yak & Yeti. I see quite a few people in their cafe during the lunch hour, so it looked promising. Plus, we have gone to their main restaurant and liked the food, so we decided to try their grab-n-go version a try.
I ordered a rice bowl with palak paneer (spinach and cheese curry) and a pork curry. Craig had a rice bowl with chicken masala and a turkey curry. We shared the chopped vegetable salad in the background.
Sadly, we were not overly impressed with the food. It was quite bland. All of the curries were mediocre and really didn’t leave us wanting more. The chopped salad was good but not something I would make a point of ordering again either.
Oh well, the conversation and company were still enjoyable.
This weekend I am going to try running again. I’m sure it won’t be much, but I am already going stir-crazy. I have to get outside and enjoy the fall weather before the snow flies.
What is the most painful thing to do when your muscles are so sore from running a marathon (or any race)?
Going down stairs and sitting down on the toilet are two of the most difficult things for me.
What most recent restaurant was a let-down for you?
What are you running/racing plans for the weekend?
