Noises in the Night

It was so weird waking up to an alarm this morning; I didn’t know what was happening. All summer I haven’t had to use an alarm, so when my alarm went off at 5:30 a.m. this morning, I didn’t know what the noise was. I guess this means summer break is official over.

Speaking of being woken up by unfamiliar noises, the other night, Craig and I were sound  asleep and all of a sudden the bed started shaking and rocking back and forth, and Craig, still half asleep, mumbles, “it’s an earthquake.” I didn’t know what was going on at first since I had been sound asleep, but I guess that’s what happens when you live in Alaska.

Within 10 minutes of my alarm going off this morning, I was out the door for a very enjoyable 7 mile run. Ten minutes into my run, I was feeling good, so I decided to pick up the pace and do a tempo run. Here’s a breakdown of my run:

10 minute warm-up

30 minute tempo run (I tried to pick the pace up every 10 minutes.)

15 minute cool-down

Breakfast was a Pineapple-Mango-Banana Smoothie and 2 waffles. (I had another one after this picture was taken.)

I like getting my protein in a smoothie form. Liquids after a run are so welcomed!

Craig thought the smoothie looked like banana bread batter with the chia seeds in there.

What is your favorite kind of nut butter?

I used to love peanut butter but find myself reaching for the almond butter more often now.

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

I think I’ll forever be loyal to peanut butter. I like sunflower seed butter and almond butter but peanut butter is still my favorite.
