This Week’s Favorites #2

WEARING // J.Crew chambray shirt + Joe’s Jeans + pink slip-ons

I wasn’t sure about the denim-on-denim trend, so I had to consult my more fashion savvy friends. Thankfully all of them said, YES! As long as the two shades of denim were different–like I did above. I love this chambray shirt and know it will be a staple for many years to come, and these jeans have been worn more times than I can count. I actually got these slip-ons from Target last year, but they look identical to these–and they are currently on sale!

LISTENING // Des Linden podcast on I’ll Have Another with Lindsey Hein

I listened to this podcast this past winter while on the treadmill for a workout one day, and when I was watching Des pull away from the lead pack at the Boston Marathon, I thought back to this podcast and the things she said in it. The one thing that I most remember is that she took a long break after the Boston Marathon last year. Not just a 1 or 2 week break, but a several month break from hard-core training. She said she wanted to get to the point when she questioned if she ever wanted to do this running gig anymore. Obviously she wanted to do it bad enough to start training again, and I bet she’s glad she did!

READING // Articles about the Boston Marathon

I have been on such a high from the Boston Marathon; I can’t get enough of it. I’ve found myself going down a rabbit hole reading all sorts of inspiring articles including these:

A fun Q&A with Des where she talks more about the clothes she wore and what to do during a burnout.

Who was the second place winner Sarah Sellers?

It sounds like this will be Shalane’s last Boston Marathon race.

The men’s winner has run 12 marathons in the past year, including a marathon on New Year’s Day in -5*F weather.

USING // Beautycounter Color Intense Lipstick

To be honest, I’m not normally a lipstick person–give me a lip gloss any day, but I started getting really excited about the Color Intense Lipsticks from Beautycounter, so I had to try it myself. I ordered the color First Date and was impressed with how well it stayed on. It has a nice peppermint scent, and as always–has ingredients that are much safer than traditional lipsticks.

During the month of April, if you purchase any lip product (when shopping through me), I will reimburse your shipping cost, so you can get FREE SHIPPING on your order. (Up to $5.95) You will need to forward your purchase confirmation to me and let me know how to reimburse you.

EATING // Healthy Chocolate Almond Butter Truffles

I have a thing for protein balls. They are so quick and easy to grab when I’m hungry, and it is better than eating a lot of pre-packaged foods. I have been loving these healthy truffles, and Cullen has been gobbling them up as well. Only five ingredients, and they come together in no time.

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
