My Makeup Routine

I received some questions about my makeup routine, so I thought I would share two routines I do often. The first being a full-face of makeup complete with foundation, eye liner, eye shadow, blush, and lip gloss. The second is my quick routine that only takes about five minutes. I love doing both routines, and it is just a matter of what I’m doing that day, how much time I’m willing to take, and what I feel like wearing that day as to which routine I decide on.

I’ll start with my full face of makeup. This routine takes me about 10 minutes, and I am constantly multi-tasking in between layers to let things dry and set. For instance, I’ll apply my concealer, and while that is setting, I’ll blow dry my hair. I don’t do everything on this list, every time. I usually only wear eye shadow once a week, and sometimes I forget to use the facial mist at the very end, but it at least gives you an idea of the products I use.

ConcealerBeautycounter’s Touchup Skin Concealer Pen (in Light) under my eyes and to cover any blemishes. It has really good coverage and lasts all day.

Foundation – Beautycounter Tint Skin Hydrating Foundation (in Sand) I have tried many foundations before, and this one is hands-down my favorite. It is a perfect level of coverage without being cakey. The finish is very natural-looking and lasts all day.

Powder – The Beautycounter’s Mattifying Powder is great for setting my foundation. I also use the Mattifying Powder as a primer on my eyelids before applying eyeshadow or blending my blush and bronzer together, so the color isn’t as stark.

Eyebrow Gel – I was so excited when Beautycounter came out with a brow gel. It is so good, and it is super easy to use. You just use the little spoolie brush and comb through your eyebrow hairs to fill in sparse areas and unify the color throughout your eyebrows. I don’t go a day without filling in my eyebrows, and if I need to make them a little darker, I use Revlon’s Colorstay Eyeliner (in Brown).

Mascara – I’ve always used two mascaras at a time. I’m not sure how this ever happened, but I’ve been combining mascaras for years. Right now I really like the Maybelline Volum’ Express Mascara and Maybelline’s Full ‘N Soft Mascara. I’ll first coat my lashes with the Full ‘N’ Soft Mascara followed by the Maybelline one. I would love to find a safer alternative, so if you know of one, leave it in the comments below.

Eye shadow – I have a couple of old eyeshadow palettes from Beautycounter that I’m still working through, but I love using various shades of browns on my eyelids like in the Velvet Eyeshadow Pallete.

Eyeliner – Beautycounter’s Precision Liquid Eyeliner – I love the brush to apply it, and it stays on all day!

Blush/bronzer/highlighter – I am obsessed with the new Satin Powder Blushes. There are so many great color options for a natural highlighting look on your cheeks. (I’ve been recommending the Nectar color to everyone.) For my bronzer, I use Ocean & Pacific Palette, but the Radiant All Over Bronzer is very similar. Finally, for the ultimate glow, I use the Illuminating Cream Highlighter (in Pearl Glow) on the tops of my cheek bones or the Luminous Powder Highlighter (in Halo).

Lip gloss – If I put something on my lips, it is almost always Beautycouter’s lip glosses, especially the Peony, Bare Shimmer, or Blush Shimmer colors. I haven’t always been a lipstick fan, but I have been experimenting with Beautycounter’s Color Intense Lipsticks, and they are amazing! Long lasting, peppermint flavored, and as always, a safer option.

Facial mist – The final step I do is to set everything with Beautycounter’s Brightening Facial Mist.

On days when I’m strapped for time, I use these six makeup products, and it only takes me about five minutes to apply them all.

Concealer – Beautycounter’s Touchup Concealer Pen (in Light)

Face – For a nice lightweight, every day coverage, I use Beautycounter’s tinted moisturizer Dew Skin (No.2).

Mascara – A combination of the following: Maybelline Volum’ Express Mascara and Maybelline’s Full ‘N Soft Mascara.

Eyebrows – Beautycounter’s Brilliant Brow Gel (in Medium Brown) (Pro tip: never skip filling in your eyebrows!)

Cheeks – Beautycounter’s Satin Powder Blush

Lip Gloss – Beauycounter’s Lipgloss

You can get all six items above through Beautycounter’s Flawless in Five set at 20% off versus buying them a la carte. You get to pick the shade that’s right for you for each of the different makeup items using the online tool that helps guides you through the process. This is a great place to start if you are new to makeup or don’t know where to start!
