30 Week Pregnancy Update

10 more weeks to go. . . . .

We are moving right along in this pregnancy, and I think time will go by pretty fast from here on out.

I have NO idea where this belly came from!?! I swear I woke up one morning and all of a sudden I was pregnant.

I am thankful this pregnancy has been going so smoothly. I am still feeling great and besides looking pregnant, I don’t feel pregnant. When I was home, my mom said her (three) pregnancies all went well, so hopefully that is the case for me and (God willing) any successive pregnancies.

I feel thankful I was able to get pregnant as soon as I did. (It only took a month.) A gentleman who was in the store today told me I was blessed, and I couldn’t help but wonder if he and his wife had/have had a hard time getting pregnant.

Other than this growing belly, not much as changed since I last gave a pregnancy update, but here are a few things to note.

Food aversions/cravings:

None. There aren’t foods that I crave nor ones that I have aversions to. I guess if anything, I crave a lot of carbs, but I’ve always craved carbs from running so much.

Weight gain

15 pounds

I have been diligent about not ‘eating for two’ or allowing myself an extra serving unless I am truly hungry. From what I understand, some woman’s weight gain is out of their control, but I didn’t want to gain 40+ pounds and am glad I am not trending in that direction.

Running/exercise

Last week running went really well (relatively speaking), but this week I’ve been out of commission (other than 1-2 miles) due to my lower back bothering me. I was hoping to see the chiropractor Friday morning, but he is going to be out now. I am still going to try and run the Big Wildlife Runs Snow City 5K on Sunday though!

Since I haven’t been able to run this week, I have supplemented my exercise with swimming, yoga, and weight lifting. Of course it isn’t the same, but at least I can still do something.

Gender Guesses

Since we are waiting to find out whether the baby is a boy or girl, it is fun to hear what people think we are having. Everyone thinks the ultrasound pictures look like a boy. And since I am carrying low, that means I am having a boy too apparently. I have yet to have anyone guess a girl.

I had a dream last night that the baby was a girl. But all of my previous (three) dreams were that the baby was a boy. The old wife’s tale says the actual gender is opposite of what you dream, but my midwife said I am probably having a boy since my dreams were about a boy. (I met with her before I had the dream of the baby being a girl.)

Baby Names

We have one boy name and one girl name picked out, which we are also keeping a secret until the big day. We’re just all about surprises! We actually have had the names picked out before I got pregnant and haven’t wavered on the names we chose since.

New Baby Products

Sophie the Giraffe Teether

I had not heard of this teething toy until it was given to me as a gift at my baby shower. Come to find out, this is one of the best teething toys out there apparently. I also received the teething ring from my aunt.

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding

I received this book from a friend at my baby shower. She said this was her breastfeeding bible when she was a new mom since she didn’t have friends who were in the same stage as herself.

We are slowing gathering all the necessary things for the baby’s room and beyond: crib, clothes, diapers, car seat, blankets, etc. While we don’t have everything, I am feeling good about where we are at.

Questions

Was your pregnancy (or pregnancies) similar to your mother’s?

Did you continue to have aversions and/or cravings throughout your pregnancy or was it primarily during the beginning?

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

You are carrying the way I did and I had a girl. Old wives tales say if you carry high its a boy, if you carry low, its a girl. It looks as though you are carrying a little low…but as long as its healthy, who cares!

My pregnancy was very similar to my mom’s. She was very active, as was I and had no trouble bouncing back from any pregnancy.

My biggest aversion was to vegetables, and it was mainly in the latter half of my pregnancy. I did have aversions to sweets at the beginning and only wanted bread because it would soothe my stomach. Also, I never wanted water, I always wanted something with flavor. So I would end up getting those crystal light liquid drops that you put into your water. It helped get my water intake and not go after unhealthy drinks. I did have a craving for donuts once, so I had one and then I was good. Haven’t had one since. HeHe

I think how you carry depends upon your body shape. 😉 Only time will tell!

      So good to hear!!

My veggie intake has been down. I’m not sure if it is because I don’t really care for them right now or just haven’t been intentional about making sure I eat them. I did have some stronger cravings for donuts a couple months ago, but maybe it was because everyone was posting pictures of donuts during national donut day! Ha!

My one and only craving the whole time (34 weeks now) is cottage cheese – so weird but I cannot get enough! My only aversion was coffee in the first tri, thank goodness that passed. So far I’ve been similar and followed in my moms footsteps with an easy, no morning sickness pregnant KNOCK ON WOOD! I dreamed boy over and over and I’m having a boy, so I feel dreams are pretty telling. Good luck at the 5k!

I wonder if it is the salt and protein of cottage cheese?!?! Interesting that your dreams matched reality. I’ll be anxious to find out if that’s the same for me.

I love your charcoal grey tank in the first pic! I’m not a mom, but I’ve heard awesome things about Sophie and just purchased one for a friend whose baby shower I’m going to next week. I definitely worry that when I do get preggo, I’ll gain lots of weight in unwanted areas, but I hope that’s not the case. Who knows…

I know it is hard to tell, but it is actually a micro-strip navy blue and white tank from Gap. I’ve really liked all of my maternity tops from there. Yeah, I don’t know how much control you have over the weight you gain when you are pregnant–I like to think you can control it to at least some degree. But where you gain weight is probably out of our control, huh?

I kept a log of Jenn’s cravings… I’ll have to try and find it.

Your probably going to have a girl, the older sister-younger brother combo (if you have another) is trending nowadays.

Ha! I’ll work on the girl, followed by the boy combo.
