Marathon Monday

I love working at a running store because ‘Marathon Monday’ is not a foreign term. The marathon, how people did, who the winners were was all the buzz at work today.

I didn’t watch any of it on TV since we don’t have cable, but I caught up on all of the news via Facebook and the web. Somehow my coworkers got their faces posted all over the news.

Monica made the USA Today’s web photos.

And Jerry and Tom were interviewed by CNN. Way to go guys!

I couldn’t get the actually video embedded, but here’s the link if you want to check it out.

Marathon Monday will never have to same ring for me. . . . . .

My run didn’t come close to the distance of a marathon, but I did cover 5 miles this morning with an pace of approximately 8:30. Even though it was a little chilly with temps in the upper 30s, I am taking every opportunity to wear shorts this spring because I am sick and tired of (multiple pairs) pants.

Running in my incredibly dirty shoes. This is why I never buy new shoes in the spring.

Breakfast was a bowl of oatmeal eaten on my way to work because I would have been late otherwise. I also had this protein bar, which was quite disappointing. I was not a fan of the texture (pasty) or the flavor (lacking a good mocha flavor and no distinct cherry flavor).

After work I had to go to the grocery store to get food for the week. Then it was a quick-prep meal because I was hungry. Craig said he wanted BLTs, so that’s what we had. (I was glad because that is what I was craving as well.)

My plate was a little random with half of a BLT sandwich (with homemade bacon), a scrambled egg for additional protein, and some grape tomatoes. DSC_0011

After I cleaned up the kitchen and did a little house work, Craig and I took the pooch for an evening walk. It got up to 60*F here today, which is rare for this time of the year. Of course everyone said it was “hot,” while I was still wearing my thinner winter jacket. DSC_0029

Tomorrow I have the day off and a lengthy to-do list, so I hope I can get it all accomplished.

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
