Professional & Elite Running Blogs

I am inspired by people who are faster than me. I want to know all of their secrets in hopes they might help me become faster. I enjoy reading about their training, learning about what they eat, and comparing that to my own training regimen. I realize I will never be as fast as them, but something still draws me in, and I want to know more.

I have compiled a list of a few of my professional female and elite runners who blog about their journey. This is not a comprehensive list, but you are welcome to comment below if there are others.

Kara Goucher

My running inspiration. I’ve found so many similarities between myself and Kara (minus the fact she is way faster than me), that I can’t help like her. Plus, she seems so nice and down to earth—probably because she’s from Minnesota.

Ariana Hilborn

I first started following Ariana’s blog when she appeared on the cover of the Grandma’s Marathon booklet. She ran her first marathon in 2008 with a time of 4:36 and just three short years ran at the Olympic trails for the marathon in 2011.

Julia Webb (Alan Webb’s wife)

Both are fantastic runners and both are from the Midwest, what’s not to love.

The Local Elite

Nichole Porath

I actually ran against Nichole in high school and college. We connected through our blogs and finally had a chance to meet in person when I went to Minnesota in November. Nichole ran the Olympic trails in the marathon and was the former world recorder holder for the indoor marathon.

Carrie Tollefson

Another Minnesota native who is very active in the running community making videos and sharing her knowledge of running. A stand-out runner in high school and college.

Wasatch and Beyond

Kris Lawrence

Lauren Fleshman

Co-founder of Picky Bars. Known by all Oiselle-lovers. And a frequent contributor to the Running On Om Podcast.

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

Lauren Fleshman has a great blog (and general social media fodder). http://asklaurenfleshman.com/ She is hilarious and I know her a bit through her time in Eugene. She’s now living and training Oiselle project Little Wing in Bend, OR. Her husband Jesse Thomas is a pro triathlete who is hilarious as well. http://leapdaysports.com/

Thank you for posting this – I’ve especially enjoyed reading about Ariana Hilborn this morning. As a fellow runner who never competed in high school/college, her story is relevant and inspirational!
