I’m Famous

5 a.m. came way too quickly this morning. Last night at 10:00 p.m. there was a puddle of water in our garage and the source seemed to be the wall. Not a good sign. Craig decided to go into the crawl space, and two seconds later I hear, “Honey, we have a broken pipe.”

Oh joy. I helped Craig a bit before going to bed at 11:00 p.m., but 6 hours of sleep was not enough for this girl. Craig stayed up much later fixing it, and thankfully we have running water 24 hours later.

Even with the lack of sleep, the addiction is too strong, so out the door I went this morning for a 9 mile run. I ran one mile with Sadie (our pup) and then dropped her off at home before finishing the other 8 by myself.

It was a really good run. Almost three weeks post-marathon, and I am feeling good. I wish my average pace would be a little faster though, but I know that will come.

Distance: 9 miles

Time: 1:15

Average pace: 8:20 minutes/mile

I have only had this pair of BP ‘Runway’ boots from Nordstrom for two years. I have worn them a fair amount, but I was surprised how quickly the heels wore down. I did a quick Google search and found good reviews for Era’s Shoe Repair located off Fireweed in Anchorage. I dropped them off last week and picked them up yesterday. I was so happy to see professional, superior quality craftsmanship and a nearly seamless repair on both heels. For $20, I would highly recommend Era’s Shoe Repair. DSC_0014I’m famous! (Okay, not really.) But there is an article about me in this week’s Anchorage Press newspaper.

During my lunch break, I made sure to go and pick up a copy of the local newspaper because I was anxious to see how the article turned out.

One of my devout blog followers, who also does freelance articles, wanted to interview me about my win at the Kenai River Marathon, how I keep running mile after mile, and my Boston experience. I was flattered someone wanted to write an article about me, and I was more than happy to oblige.

When I came home, I found Craig’s slipper on the couch again. Sadie has this thing with taking our shoes to the couch with her. The first time she did it, it was a pair of my flats. Lately it is always Craig’s shoe. We think it is because she misses us. Awww. . . .

Tonight for dinner I reheated a bowl of my White Chicken Chili I made over the weekend. This is a super easy and very healthy recipe, so if the weather is turning cool where you live and you need some comfort food in your life, be sure to make this asap. DSC_0022

I must go to bed now! I have not been getting enough sleep this week, so it is off to bed I go!

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

I just have to say how encouraged I am by reading your blog. I am suffering from a stress fracture right now due to running. How do you avoid injuries like this when you log so many miles?

Strength train, wear good shoes, don’t increase my mileage too quickly, eat right, sleep enough, stretch, foam roll, ice.

My dogs (especially Lance) are obsessed with shoes. I don’t know why- they pick them up and carry them everywhere!
