Destination: Boston Marathon

We have arrived! We were welcomed with drizzly gray skies, but I do not mind at all. I will take this over snow any day! I think the city still looks absolutely beautiful.

We left Anchorage around 1 a.m. Friday morning. The cheapest flights are always the red-eye flights. Grrr. I hope it doesn’t mess with my sleep cycle too much. The four hour time zone difference is also going to take a few days to get used to as well.

We had a layover in Portland, OR and then a 5 hour flight to Boston.

A few pictures from our trip thus far. . . . . .

Portland, OR. . . . .oh, how I wish you could have spent more time there—it was clear and sunny!

When we arrived in Boston, we were famished, so food was necessary. We met up with my sister—who had arrived a few hours earlier—at Crema Cafe. Kristy, my sister, had been to this restaurant when she traveled to Boston three years ago and has been raving about the sweet potato sandwich since. DSC_0005

I absolutely loved the historic brick building and decor. Totally my type of restaurant. DSC_0004

I ordered the Roasted Eggplant sandwich, and it was definitely one of the best sandwiches I have ever had! I was hesitant to get the eggplant, but it did not disappoint. Photo bomb curtsey of Craig. DSC_0007

I can’t believe we are actually there, and I can’t believe I will be running my 5th marathon on Monday—it is very surreal!!

If you want to follow my progress in the marathon text RUNNER to 345678 and enter my bib number: #10107.

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

Michelle! I’ve been reading your blog for about a year or so now and have loved following your running journey through now. Yep, I’m one of those people who loves your writing and keep coming back but never really comment…I should though, so maybe I’ll start to do that more! In any case, I wanted to wish you the very best of luck tomorrow but more importantly, have FUN! Boston is definitely one of those special races (it’s on my bucket list for sure) so enjoy every moment. I’l be cheering from Maine and can’t wait to hear about it!

Thanks for organizing the meet-up. It was my first one! Needless to say there aren’t a lot of fellow bloggers in Alaska.
