Pumpkin Carving Champion

Who knew I was married to a pumpkin carving champion?

Saturday night we were invited to a pumpkin carving party. I get excited when we are invited to parties or potlucks because it gives me an excuse to bake things I wouldn’t dare make for just the two of us.

Pinterest finds. . . . .

Halloween Chex Mix

Sweet, salty, and very addicting!

Cinnamon Chex, Cherrios, pretzels, raisins, candy corn, and melted white chocolate.

Pumpkin Oat Bread

I really, really liked how this pumpkin bread turned out. It had a delicious fall flavor with great pumpkin spice and a hint of sweetness. The recipe called for maple syrup, but I had to sub Alaskan cherry birch syrup, which gave the bread a nice bold flavor.

Both items were excellent and a big hit at the party.

At the party we ate, talked, and then got to carving the pumpkins. Craig is the creative one in this relationship, so I let him have the honors of carving our pumpkin.

I found this pumpkin carving kit at Target and couldn’t resist picking it up for Craig since he is a huge Star Wars fan.

But Craig decided to make up his own design instead of using one of the designs from the Star Wars pack.

What’s it going to be?

The final result. I’m not sure what he calls it.

I actually didn’t realize it was a contest until we got there, so after we were done carving, we had a vote on the best looking pumpkin.

The vote was narrowed down to two pumpkins, and Craig’s was one of the top two!

Then there was a face-off between the top two.

After a second round of voting (I voted for Craig’s pumpkin both times. 🙂 ), Craig’s pumpkin was the official winner!!! Woohoo!!

I promise he was happy about winning.

Our prize is a nice dinner out with the hosts of the party. And I’m sure the plaque will be proudly displayed in our apartment.

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
