New (to me) Foods

Today’s run was a good one! I felt good and the miles flew by!!

Distance: 12 miles

Time: 1:37

Average Pace: 8:05 minutes/mile

My plan only called for 10 miles today, but I wanted to run a couple more since next Saturday is a 15-miler. I felt really good and was averaging miles under 8 minutes for most of the run. 🙂

At mile 8.5, I ended up running into a friend (Hi, Peggy!), which was fun because we got to catch up with each other since it has been a while since we’ve seen each other. Then, we ran into Peggy’s friend, Jess, so we run and chatted with her for a bit. She just PRed at the Mount Marathon race, which is awesome! (This race intimidates me!) Mount Marathon is a 3.1 mile trail race straight up the mountain, Mount Marathon, and back down again where it is not uncommon for people to fall and slip down portions of the mountain; it is intense!

I love my Saucony Hurricane 14s and yes this is the same outfit I wore the other day.

I don’t often post new recipes because frankly I am not very good at creating recipes. But I do like to share about new foods I’ve recently discovered.

Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter

I’ve had Justin’s products before, and they do not disappoint! This peanut butter has a slight grainy texture (I think from the sugar crystals), but it did not bother me. The touch of honey is perfect!

Nature’s Path Whole O’s (Gluten-free)

I really like this cereal! I’m a big fan of crunch and these are definitely very crunchy. (I’ve found that to be true for many gluten-free items.) They don’t really taste like Cheerios, but they still do have that nutty flavor to them.

Doctor Kracker Klassic 3-Seed Crispbreads

I was kind of indifferent about these crackers—I didn’t love them but I didn’t  dislike them either. They are very hard and crunchy. I was surprised they had 5 grams of protein per crisp bread.

Blue Diamond Nut-Thins

I really, really like these crackers! I’ve bought many boxes of them and all of the flavors have been terrific, but my favorite two flavors are hazelnut and pecan.

Trader Joe’s Roasted Gorgonzola Crackers

So very addicting! I don’t usually get that excited about cheese-flavored crackers, but these are different and way better!

Udi’s Millet-Chia Gluten-Free Bread

I love Udi’s gluten-free products, but I wasn’t a huge fan of this flavor. I definitely still liked it but will stick to the whole grain vairety next time.

Trader Joe’s Wasabi Roasted Seaweed Snack

When I saw these at Trader Joe’s, I couldn’t resist picking up a package to try. What did they taste like? wasabi and seaweed! Kind of different but kind of good.

PB2 – Powdered Peanut Butter

I know I am super late getting to the boat on this one. I’ve been wanting to try this for years but couldn’t find it in Anchorage and never wanted to pay the shipping to order it online, so when I saw it in Minnesota, I picked up a container and brought it back with me. So far I’ve just added it to smoothies, but I like the flavor of peanut butter without the extra fat.

Trader Joe’s Tortellini with Pesto Filling

I’m pretty sure half of my suitcase was filled with Trader Joe’s products when I came back from Minnesota.

I am kind of indifferent about this product. I wasn’t blown away by the flavor, mostly because you can’t really taste the pesto filling. But it it still fun and something different than plain pasta.

Question

What is a new food you have recently tried?

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

Oh, you’re so sweet to give me such a nice shout-out! It really was cool for me to meet you today. I love your blog and you inspire me to be healthier, both with my exercise and nutritionally. So keep up the good work and someday when I’m faster (and if your husband hasn’t let you move yet!), maybe we can go for a run together. 🙂 Take care!

I’m so glad we got to meet!! I would definitely be up for a run. . . .I don’t care if I have to run slower than my normal pace. 🙂

we just got trader joe’s in texas, so my favorite thing I have tried recently is the cookie butter. Delicious, but not healthy 🙂

I’ve heard it is amazing! My sister bought some and was raving about it.

    I still haven’t tried the PB2! I think it’s weird! haha.

New food that I’m obsessed with: vegetable chips. They’re like dehydrated fruit but veggies instead. I know they add oil but I like to think they are still healthy

I’ll have to look for the vegetable chips. Although, it could take a while until I see them up here in Alaska. . . .everything is about 3 years behind: fashion, fads, music, etc. Ha!
