4th Wedding Anniversary

Today Craig and I celebrated 4 years of marriage.

I really did not picture myself marrying someone like Craig—at least in some ways—but I couldn’t have picked a better man to share my life with.

We have so much fun together, and I am excited to spend the rest of my life with him.

We didn’t do anything too fancy for our anniversary. As Craig likes to say, “we celebrate our love every day.” And as cheesy as it sounds, we really do try to surprise each other with small gifts/favors to show our love to each other throughout the year.

We did enjoy a nice meal at Table 6 tonight. I had purchased a Living Social deal to Table 6 a while back, so we went ahead and used it tonight. I had every intention of taking pictures and documenting our night together, but while at the restaurant, I discovered the battery on the camera was completely dead, so we don’t have a single picture from the evening.

The food was excellent, and I definitely forsee us returning to Table 6 in the future. Craig had a CBLTA—that would be a chicken-bacon-lettuce-tomato-avocado sandwich, and I had blackened Alaskan cod, which was amazing!!

A few things Craig and I have learned after 4 years of marriage:

– Fill each other’s “love bucket” on a regular basis. My love bucket is “quality time” and Craig’s is “words of affirmation.” Read The 5 Languages of Love to find out what your love bucket is.

– You can’t make the other person do something the other person doesn’t want to—it just creates a bad situation.

– Yet at the same time, it is okay to do something you don’t enjoy all that much for the other person. (example: I don’t really enjoy playing disc golf all that much, but I will do it on occasion because Craig loves it.)

– Don’t make promises you can’t keep.

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
