Things I am Excited About

I’ve got a lot to be excited  about today!

Look who arrived in town last night!! My sister, Kristy, (a.k.a. my clone)! 🙂

My sister will be living with us for a month while she finishes up her dietetics internship so she can become a registered dietitian!

(She was a bit tired after traveling 14+ hours. Plus it was cold coming from North Carolina!)

Last night I also ran a race–more like a fun run/training run.

The Do-Run-Run race was sponsored by the Anchorage Running Club, and those who were members (me!) got free admission to the race. Score!

The start of the race was held along the Ship Creek trail in Anchorage.

I thought everyone was going to run 4 miles, but when I got there, I found out there were actually three options: 3K, 4 miles, or a 7.5K.

I chose the 7.5K (4.5 miles) route since I needed a 30-40 minute tempo run for the day. Instead of doing a tempo run on my own, I decided to use this race where others could push me to keep a good pace.

I ended up having a pretty decent race; I felt good, and I was averaging right around 7:00 minutes/mile. I actually was the first woman done for my race. (Side note: This was a very small race. There was maybe 50 people between all three races.)

I was happy with my performance, especially in the midst of a 70-mile week and the day after a hard track workout.

Tonight Craig and I are going to a cooking class! I bought a Groupon a while back to Let’s Cook Alaska and tonight’s the night we are going to learn about making “Starters and Salads.” It was a good option for the both of us because Craig loves appetizers, and I love salads.

~~~~~~~
And last but not least, the one thing I am especially excited about: only one more week of school left!! eek!! I can’t wait!!
Hi, I'm Michelle
I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
    Yay, Kristy! I actually played mellophone with Kristy in high school and found your blog back when she guest-posted for you. 🙂 I’ve become an avid Google-Reader-follower, since former Wasecans have to stick together. 🙂
    Forgive me as I’m catching up on your last few posts…
    That’s so great that your sis will be there for such a long time! How fun!
    And the cooking class sounds AWESOME. That’s definitely something Greg and I would do. In fact… I need to see if there’s any deals on Groupon near me for one!
    So you are the fast girl I see at various races. Okay not really, long story. Anyway, great running out there! If I see your around I will say hi, looks like I am at many of the same races as you.
