Goals for 2012

I decided to switch this up this morning and run at The Dome this morning.

The Dome is an indoor sports facility with turf soccer fields and a 400+ meter indoor track. They claim it is 400 meters, but it is actually more than 400 meters. I used to be an official at track and field meets, and the 1600 meter run did not start and finish at the same place.

Anyway, it is a nice indoor facility for running. It is actually really close to where we live, but I just wish it didn’t cost so much to get in. Although, it is cheaper than going to most yoga classes.

Today I actually had a free pass to use that I’ve been hanging onto for about 3 years now (no joke). Running from the front door of my apartment is much more convenient than driving somewhere to run, so I’ve just never taken the time to use the pass.

Yeah for being able to wear ONE long sleeve top and capris!

Of course I arrived in the dark and completed my entire workout before the sun had rose. But that’s not too hard when the sun rises after 10 a.m.

Workout

1.5 miles warm-up

2 x 1600 meters (basically mile repeats—at about 7:30 minutes/mile pace)

1.5 miles cool-down

Total: 5 miles

Time: 40 minutes

It was so nice to be able to run fast today—and not worry about slipping and falling! Although it still isn’t as fun as running outside.

indoor track > treadmill

running outside > indoor track

Goals for 2012

I love setting goals and pushing myself to try new things.

However, the hard thing about setting goals so far out is that I never know how things will actually turn out. But as of right now, these are my goals for the upcoming year:

– Run 2 marathons.

– I would love to break my PR in the marathon and/or half-marathon.

– Do 3 unassisted pull-ups.

– Travel to somewhere new. (Is this cheating since we already purchased tickets to Maui?)

– Move. (even if it is just to a different place in Anchorage)

– Try skate-skiing.

– Read a book each month. (I hope I am not overcommitting myself with this goal.)

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

Great goals Michelle! No specific time goals for the full or half? I think I did the same last year. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to PR in everything but I’m hoping I have at least a couple years for 10K and 5K PRing and maybe 5 or 6 years of 1/2 and full marathon PRs.

Good luck on reaching all your goals. I’m doing a goal review and goal setting post in the near future.

Besides PRing in the half and/or full, I would love to be able to qualify for Boston, but that’s seems like a pretty lofty goal with the new standards. I would love to break 1:30 in the half, but right now that seems pretty lofty too. :/
