Bookworm

I used to read all. the. time. as a kid. I was definitely a bookworm!

I would sit for hours on the couch reading: An American Girl, Goosebumps, The Babysitters Club, The Boxcar Children, Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley Twins, Sweet Valley High. . . . . and so many more! I loved them all!

As I got more involved with athletics, band, and extra-curicular activities in high school, reading went by the wayside. Then came college and reading textbooks was enough for me—plus I really had zero free time.

So now that summer break is done, and I have so much more free time to read (yeah right!), I’ve decided to get back into reading! ๐Ÿ™‚

Actually, I am really hoping to spend some time in the evenings reading books instead of blogging and running around like a chicken with its head chopped off getting ready for the next day! (I am not very good at relaxing.)

I have been wanting to stop at the library for quite some time, so I made a point of doing that today after work where I picked up a wide variety of books today.

I wanted to get this book based off a recommendation from a blog post I read a while back.

I used to read Karen Kingsbury books all the time, so I’m excited to start reading them again. I’m hoping this book is not part of a series—otherwise I might be a little lost.

I also picked up a book I have never heard of or know anything about.

(Pretty outdoor scenery and waterfalls get me every time!)

And a cookbook that will hopefully have some good recipes in.

I also picked up a couple of books for Craig.

His parents have two pug dogs, and he’s always trying to convince me that we should get a pug. I couldn’t resist getting this book for him; I have no idea what it is about.

And another book for Craig. . . .he is obsessed with zombies!!

Let me know. . . . are any of these books ones you would recommend?

What is one book you would recommend?

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

Ooh I want to read that zombie one, since I’m a little zombie obsessed as well. Haven’t read any of those books but I dig that upside-down waterfall.

Read The Help! I started reading My Sisters Keeper, but it’s so…depressing and I couldn’t handle it. I had to stop reading it. Jodi Picoults other book, Songs of the Humpback Whale, I really enjoyed that one!

I think I need to get on that. Everyone has been recommending it! I’m starting to realize My Sister’s Keeper is quite depressing; I might have to switch to something else too!

Read One Day by David Nicholls. It’s a love story that’s getting made into a movie. Best book I’ve read in a long time.

One of my favorite books is The Girls’ Guide to Hunting and Fishing. It’s a collection of short stories (some have a recurring character) and I think I’ve read it 5 times. The zombie book looks awesome!

I’ve never heard of that book. Are you big into hunting and fishing? Or do you have to be in order to enjoy it? Are you into zombies like my husband is?

I have been trying to leave some time for myself to read in the evenings as well. It is such a great break from reality and a nice way to unwind. I pretty much stink at relaxing as well! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hello,

I don’t read that much but I did enjoy the move “The Help” that was made from a book and my friend who read the book said the movie is pretty true to the book.

What a fantastic idea to get cookbooks at the library!

A book I LOVE LOVE LOVE it called Good Mood Food. Its a cookbook by this guy in Ireland and has pictures of all the recipes. The food is natural and fresh and simple and he only uses quality ingrediants. I bet they have at the library too!
