Winner Creek + Sugarspoon

Today my aunt and I did some hiking.

We drove to Girdwood, AK and hiked the Winner Creek trail.

This is one my favorite hikes in Alaska (that I’ve done) because of the old-growth forest!
(Click here for a recap of a previous hike to Winner Creek I did last summer.)

I love the lush green colors and abundance of trees.

This waterfall is absolutely gorgeous.

Truly blue water like I’ve never seen before.

We had a great time hiking! I love how peaceful it is and refreshed I feel afterward.

The best part of my day though was being reunited with this goofball—my husband!!

I have not seen my husband for 3 weeks!! I spent 2+ weeks in Minnesota, and then Craig was out of town for a few days when I returned. It feels so good to have him back in my life! 😀

After dinner tonight, we went to our favorite dessert place in Anchorage: Sugarspoon.

We frequent this place often for their amazing desserts!!
I had a Strawberry Poppyseed Cupcake.

Craig ordered the Strawberry Mousse with Lemon Curd.

And Sue had a piece of Raspberry Cream Pie.

All were incredibly delicious! Although Craig’s was my favorite!
Time to hit the hay. I haven’t been sleeping well this week, so hopefully I can get some good, uninterrupted sleep tonight!

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

Hi there, I have been following your blog for a few months. I am visiting my parent’s who live in Eagle River this month. My Dad and I backpacked over Crow Pass last week. I am really interested in the Winner Creek Trail. Do you get to it from the Aleyeska Resort? or from the road that goes up to Crow Pass? Thanks! Love your blog:)

We started on the trail head that is behind Alyeska Hotel, but you can also access Winner Creek via Crow Creek Road. (I’m guessing that’s the road you take the Crow Creek Pass (seems logical); I’ve actually never hiked it before.)
