Friday Fun

Nothing like starting a Friday morning with some blog reading, a run, and a delicious breakfast. πŸ™‚

Distance: 5 miles + 6 striders

Time: 45 minutes

I took it easy in preparation for my long run tomorrow. (I’m shooting for 21 miles tomorrow.)

First time wearing shorts in the morning! And somehow my legs still turned a little red.

When I returned home, all I could think about was this:

Michelle’s Traditional Bowl of Oatmeal

Ingredients

1/4 cup old-fashioned oats

1/3 cup milk

1/3 cup water

1/2 teaspoon chia seeds

1 banana, sliced

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

dash of salt

toppings: banana slices, peanut butter, coconut

Directions

1. Combine oats, milk, water, chia seeds, and 1/2 banana in a pot on the stove top.

2. Bring mixture to boil, reduce heat, and cook for 3-5 minutes until mixture is creamy. Stir often.

3. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla and salt.

4. Add toppings and enjoy!

These are my traditional toppings, but the options are endless: nuts, strawberries, blueberries, crumbled muffin, granola, etc.

This afternoon, I got a much-needed manicure. I’ve been wanting to go for a while but seeing that I am a p.e. teacher and surrounded by sports equipment all day, a pretty manicure didn’t seem too conducive to that.

I’m pretty sure I picked out the exact same color as this time I went.

Yes, I know I have wrinkly grandma hands.

On top of a great day, we are having some fabulous weather!

Low 70s and sunny. Now, my ideal temperature is closer to 80 degrees, but this is Alaska people, and I know I can’t ask for much warmer temps than this. I am soaking up every last ray of sunshine I can!

Can summer please last forever?

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

I agree. Let’s just allow summer forever to be here. Minus the humidity today, it has already been glorious in my life.
