Summer Sunshine

I am looooving my summer vacation so far!!

I cannot believe how much teaching stressed me out! I honestly feel like I can live in the moment now instead of dream about the end of the school year all. day. long! πŸ™‚

I have been having a hard time sleeping though. They daylight is killing me!

Check out our sunrise/sunset times:

Sunrise: 4:49 a.m.

Sunset: 11:07 p.m.

And it isn’t like the rest of the time it is dark outside. When I wake up at 2 or 3 o’clock at night, there is still a hint of light in the sky!

I am going to take a bunch of pictures and post them very soon, so you, too, can see what it is like here! Although, pictures don’t do justice to the real thing, which is why you should come and visit me this summer and see what is like in the land of the Midnight Sun!

~~~~~~~
My run this morning was a short one: 5 miles, but slow: 45 minutes.
I had to hurry home for another Thursday morning coffee date! πŸ™‚
Breakfast
coffee + overnight oats
My overnight oats were not-so-delicious. I added frozen fruit last night and when they melted, it made my oats all watery–bleh!
After our coffee date, I hit up the gym for 45 minutes of weight lifting.
I focused mostly on my upper body muscles and only did a couple lifts for my legs because they are pretty sore from the week.
It hit a whopping 74 degrees today, and if you know anything about Alaska weather (at least for Southcentral Alaska) that’s a heatwave! I was thoroughly enjoying the temps and the sunshine today!
I also enjoyed a little shopping spree this afternoon at the Gap and Banana Republic. Gap was giving 40% off almost all purchases, and I scored 50% off my total purchase at Banana Republic. I love a great deal! πŸ™‚
Hi, I'm Michelle
I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
    I too go to title wave Kaladi and planet fitness! I’m coming home to Alaska from college in two weeks and want to continue doing yoga, but I’ve never been to an Alaskan yoga studio. Which would you recommend?
    Teaching is very stressful and tiring! Our last day of school is tomorrow and I feel like it’s been my only hope for the last two weeks. You’ve definitely got me thinking about quality of “life” a teacher leads. My parents are teachers, so I figured this is normal: running around for 9 months like chicken with my head cut off, and then becoming an angelic, peace-loving hippie for 3 months. Hmm . . . we only have one life to live . . . πŸ˜€
      Tell me about it! I can’t believe how exhausted I feel at the end of the day. Teaching is more exhausting than running 50 miles a week.
      At least you have only been counting down for two weeks. I’ve been waiting for the end since September!
    I hear ya, I am a totally different person when summer rolls around…no stress just carefree and loving life. Your sunrise and sunset times are crazy, that would take a lot of getting used to.
    Please take some of my heat from Southern VA. I can’t run past 7am or it’s above 8- with a good percentage of humidity. I’m glad you are having such a good Summer already. πŸ˜‰
    I can’t imagine having it be light out all the time! I can’t sleep past 6 because of the sun here…so it must be 100x worse for you.
