Mountain View

Today I took my p.e. classes outside and enjoyed some sunshine and beautiful views of the mountains.

One reason I chose to be a p.e. teacher was because I knew I could go outside when the weather was nice, but I didn’t have to go outside when it was cold!!

(Now I’m not so sure that was a very good reason to be a p.e. teacher though. :-?)Alaskans love how close these mountains are to their “backyard!” Some people even live on the side of these mountain–a.k.a. “Hillside.”

Since I didn’t recap my workout yesterday, here’s a recap of my runs from the past two days.

Wednesday

Distance: 7 miles

Time: 58 minutes

This was kind of a tough run. I don’t know why I felt so lethargic, but I wasn’t not feeling speedy at all. It felt a lot longer than 7 miles usually does, but I chugged along and got it done.

Thursday

Distance: 5 miles

Time: 45 minutes

Once again, I was not feeling this run. I honestly debated cutting it short, but I was enjoying the mild (relative) weather, the chirping birds, and the sunshine on my face TOO much to call is quits early. I couldn’t bear to go back inside and not enjoy the peacefulness of the morning—one of the reasons I run in the morning!

Question

What was one thing you thought you would enjoy about your job but in reality isn’t a perk?

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

Since I’m just a boring old lifeguard in the summer…I would say I thought sitting in the sun and doing absolutely nothing 90% of the time would be fun but you are extremely stressed never knowing what is going on in the pool and have to be ready at all times.

Well, since I just started my job as a yoga instructor…the one thing I’m not liking is the commute. Gas is expenssiivve!
