Road ID

I have not been sleeping well this past week, so last night’s full 8 hours of deep sleep was much welcomed!

It was my stomach though that eventually woke me up, so off to the kitchen I went to make my beloved bowl of oats! 🙂

Peanut Butter and Banana Oats

And a delicious glass of iced decaf coffee with organic half-and-half. Totally hit the spot this morning!I spent the next couple of hours cleaning the apartment, so I don’t have to worry about it the rest of the weekend. 🙂

The following was accomplished:

– kitchen and bathroom floors swept

– bathroom sink cleaned

– toilet cleaned

– dirty dishes were put in the dishwasher

– bed was made

Then it was time to hit the road for a run.

I have to admit I wasn’t feeling it this morning, but I always know that it is always worth it in the end. 🙂

I often wonder if it wasn’t for the purple jacket that people mistake me as a guy when I am running since my hair is pulled back. 😕

5 miles in 44:00

And on the other wrist, my Road ID.

I am a little paranoid that the emergency responders won’t actually use the information on the badge though after a friend (who’s boyfriend is a firefighter) told me they wouldn’t take the time to call or go online to find out any information about me since time is of the essence?!?!My post-run recovery fuel was a protein smoothie.

milk + frozen blueberries + applesauce + vanilla soy protein + vanilla extract

I really liked the addition of the applesauce.

I also snacked on some of these crackers.

I especially loved the rosemary seasoning in these crackers!

Off to run some errands and do some shopping! The to-do list is calling!

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

yeah i’ve thought about that too with the road id…which is part of the reason why mine is just typed on there. but i also figure that unless you have some very very important life threatening condition/allergy/etc. someone eventually will call if they need to learn about you so it’s better than nothing, right?

My dad is a firefighter and begged me to at least have an emergency number somewhere on me when I first started running, so they would have someone to call if something did. I think it really depends on the severity of injuries as to whether an emergency responder would use. However, typically a lot the in depth review of your medical needs/emergency contacts is done at the hospital, which I’m sure would take use of your Road ID. However, if you have any fatal allergies, you might want to have it on there. 🙂

I agree with what Lisa said, the allergies is a must but emergency responders will not call or check online for information but the road id will provide helpful so they have someone to contact once you are in the care of the hospital. For example if I were to get one it would mainly just have my blood type and the fact that I’m deathly allergic to asprin so then responders know to use another drug.

If you have your name on your band with a good contact, ie your husband you should be fine. Road Id should perhaps let people know how these things work because most people on the department/emergency responders don’t even know what these things are.
