A Second Chance for the Dreadmill

Who am I?!?! I actually ran inside, on the treadmill today!!

And not just a few miles. . . . 8 miles!!

I guess I’ve had enough of this frigid, cold weather (It was -3 today.), so running inside I went.

I was kind of excited to give it a try, plus I knew I wouldn’t have to freeze my tussie off!!

Surprisingly, it wasn’t all that bad?!?! A little Regis and Kelly helped. The time still passed by awfully slow, and I still would rather run outside, but at least my face, cheeks, and legs didn’t turn bright red!!

Distance: 8 miles

Time: 69 minutes

Pace: 7.0 mph (Does anyone else feel like they run slower on the treadmill?)

Incline: 1.0

After I was done, though, I don’t know that I had the same “runner’s high” feeling that I normally do?!?! Does anyone else feel this way?

Prior to my workout, I had a very appetizing breakfast.

Craig and I actually woke up at 5:00 a.m. this morning and couldn’t fall back to sleep, so we got up, putzed around the house, and then went and had coffee before parting our separate ways–him to work, me to the gym.

After coffee, I did my workout, and then, of course, was hungry again, so had a little something to eat.

I didn’t have much because I was going to be meeting Craig in a little over an hour for lunch.

1 scrambled egg + 1/2 piece of toast with blueberry jam

I met Craig at his office for a little lunch date.

Here’s my half-eaten lunch:

open-faced ham sandwich, carrot sticks, and an apple

We chit-chatted for a while, and then I was off to a hair appointment.

I decided to dye my hair dark and cut off a couple of inches. (The ends were so bad!)

I’ve gone dark before, but it has been a while. Plus the winter months always make me think of darker colors. (I’m still getting used to it; it always takes me a while!)

And a quick recap from last night.

Last night, we headed over the Craig’s parents to decorate their Christmas tree.

The tradition in their family is that each guy gives their wife/mom an ornament, so here are the guys with their ornament.

We had fun decorating the tree! I enjoyed the warm fire and my first full episode of Glee!

Craig and I are going to get cozy on the couch now and watch a movie!! πŸ™‚

Question

What is a holiday tradition in your family?

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

I’m glad you survived the treadmill! I can’t tolerate more than 4 miles – I just get so bored and distracted!

I just did a whole post about our holiday traditions! One of my favorites is chocolate fondue on Christmas eve, or when my brother and I get to open our stockings (yes, even now that we are adults) first thing on Christmas morning, before breakfast.

    Merry Christmas πŸ™‚

I completely agree with you on both issues. I feel so much slower on the treadmill and my runners high is definitely diminished!! I can’t figure out why this happens to us!! Those ornaments are too cute! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Have a very Merry Christmas!

I feel so much better that I’m not the only one. I was really surprised about the diminished runner’s high!! Merry Christmas to you as well!!
