What to Wear?

Wowzers! It was a nippy one out there this morning!

Stats from this morning’s run:

Weather: 10* F (cold!)

Distance: 5 miles

Time: 44 minutes

Clothes: hat, 2 long sleeves + jacket, 2 pairs of pants, mittens (And I never got that warm either!)

Comments: Besides being incredibly cold, it was an okay run. Although, I got really frustrated with the icy roads and the bitter cold! Summer, come back soon!!

This is the Asics jacket I wore this morning. I really like this jacket because it is thicker than a lot of “windbreakers” that are pretty minimal in keeping someone warm.

Are you wondering how to dress for your next run? Check out this interactive tool at Runner’s World for help!

You plug in the temperature and weather conditions, and then it advices you what to wear on your run! It’s a great place to start, but I have to enter a colder temperature for it to give me the proper attire in order for me to stay warm! (Told you I’m always cold!)

~~~~~~~~
There’s a potluck at school tomorrow, so I made a batch of Mama Pea’s Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Balls. These have been everywhere on the blog world, so I wanted to see what all the hype was about!
I actually made a vegan batch and a non-vegan batch, so we’ll see how they compare!
Question
What is the coldest temperature you’ve run in?
One time in college for track practice, I did a 6 a.m. run at 40 below–yes, that would be -40 (negative 40). That was brutal!
Hi, I'm Michelle
I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
    Negative 40 is insane. I can’t even compete with that!
    I just looked and the coldest I could find from my Garmin software last winter was 29 & very windy. haha. We had plenty of snow (for NJ standards) which I did run through, but I guess it never got too too cold (or if it did, that was when I used the treadmill at the gym).
    Cute jacket- does it have a fleece lining or something, or it mostly a shell?
      There technically isn’t a fleece lining in it, but it has more weight/bulk/thickness to it than another jacket I have that is just one layer.
      Could you imagine running, then, running in weather that was 80 degrees colder!?!?
    umm, probably the coldest windchill i’ve ever run in is -10. as for temp… not sure. single digits, maybe? my mom always harps on me about not running outside when it’s that cold b/c of frostbite, and my college cc/track coach treated girls like babies when it came to the cold so we had indoor practice in the gym/cardio room when it was really bad out! but i’m thinking of buying a running jacket for when it starts to get really cold. its been in the 20s here in the morning this week… i want this one http://www.brooksrunning.com/Utopia-Thermal-Hoodie/220304494.035,default,pd.html?start=10&cgid=womens-apparel-outerwear
      The ponytail hole in the back is awesome! However, I don’t know if I could run with a hood up.
    i do not wish to use my imagination for that, but instead will focus my imagination on warmer things
