Yesterday afternoon, after a nice hot shower following my cold 12 mile run, Craig and I headed to L’Aroma Bakery and Deli for a little something-something to fill our bellies.
The menu included: salads, sandwiches, paninis, and wraps. Everything is made right in front of you, so you know it is fresh.
Craig order the Milano Salad, which is the same salad I ordered the last time I came. Once again, I wasn’t impressed with the salad. It was something I could have easily recreated at home. Craig seemed to enjoy it though!
The salad included: romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, tomatoes, black olives, croutons, Parmesan cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
I ordered the Caprese Sandwich: fresh mozzarella, basil pesto, tomatoes, fresh basil, roasted red peppers, lettuce, and balsamic vinaigrette on a fresh baguette.
I liked how my sandwich tasted, the ingredients were flavorful and went together nicely, but most of the sandwich was bread, so there wasn’t a lot to it. But the bread was the best part. 🙂
There was also a small serving of pasta salad. Once again, nothing that rocked my socks off, but it was still good.
Next I headed to Pro Nails to get a much-needed pedicure.
Overall I was satisfied with the experience. I went there once before for a manicure which turned out really nice.
This time, the salon was quite busy, so I had to wait about 10 minutes until I got a chair. I thought the gal did a nice job and the price is pretty reasonable. (Trust me, I called around to a lot of different places.)
Shortly after leaving though, I did see one of my nails smudged, but I can’t say for sure whether it was something I did or not.
Last evening, we hosted six people from our young adult group at church for a dinner at our place.
We started with some good ol’ chips and homemade salsa. The main entree was a build-your-own-panini sandwich. Choices included: three types of turkey meat, cheddar cheese, provolone cheese, Havarti cheese, Laughing Cow cheese (my husband loves his cheese!), tomatoes, red onion, and Granny Smith apple slices.
I prepared this Blueberry Cobbler from a Real Simple recipe. I’ve never made cobbler before, but it was so quick and easy, I am definitely going to be making this again. Plus it tasted so good!
I used blueberries we froze after Craig went blueberry picking this summer. The addition of the lemon zest made the dessert that much better!
I don’t have too many plans for today–doing a couple of errands and relaxing before the week starts up again.
i love the combination of lemon & blueberries!
Homemade blueberry cobbler, with handpicked wild blueberries, now THAT is a real treat!
it almost died from heaven overload eating that cobbler.
Yeah, that was soooo good!!
