Finer Foods

I don’t want to sound like an elitist, but when you start eating finer foods, it is hard to go back to the food products that are of a lower quality!

Today I had a small piece of Hershey’s Chocolate and shortly after putting it in my mouth, I wanted to spit it back out. It didn’t even taste like chocolate! I honestly didn’t think I would hardly notice the difference–I mean, it is still chocolate, right? I guess my taste buds could detect the difference.

What are some foods you could never eat after finding certain brands you like better?

I used to love Yoplait yogurt but now it is way too sweet for me.

I was hungry all day long today. I didn’t even make it much past 9 a.m. without snacking on some string cheese and Dr. Kracker crackers.

When lunch finally rolled around, I was more than ready!

– turkey sandwich

– Food Should Taste Good chips – multigrain (I didn’t eat all of these.)

– carrot sticks and cucumber slices

– an apple

My turkey sandwich contained:

– one piece of whole grain bread

– mayo (made with olive oil)

– turkey

– havarti cheese (1/2 slice)

– fresh tomatoes

– fresh spinach

Some fresh veggies. The cucumber is from my father-in-law’s garden.

Craig picked these Jazz apples up at the grocery store yesterday. I’ve seen this kind there before, but have never bought them. (Maybe it is the name that scares me–Jazz doesn’t sound like a good apple name.) Despite the name, this guy was crisp, juicy, and sweet–just the way I like my apples!Today has consisted a lot of teacher trainings: school-wide discipline plan, sexual harassment, looking at results from last year’s testings, etc. Nothing too exciting, but its got to be done.

My afternoon snack was a Nature’s Path granola bar. I really like this kind!

This evening we had a back-to-school picnic to give the parents and kids a chance to meet their teachers. It was fun seeing familiar faces and seeing how much the kids grew over the summer!!

There were hotdogs at the picnic, but I just couldn’t bear to eat one, so I waited until I got home and then made myself a Pita Pizza with fresh basil, fresh spinach, tomatoes, and cheese.

Such a quick and healthy meal, especially since I don’t use a lot of cheese which saves on the calories.

I’m off–see you tomorrow. FYI: I am going to try and blog twice a day–once during my lunch break and then at the end of the day. Right now I don’t want to get up an earlier than I am to blog before work. I hope this schedule works for me; it might take me a while to get in the swing of things!

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

I also can’t stand Hershey’s chocolate or yoplait yogurt. I’m also a snob about bread. Stuff from the store is ick!

I used to love Quaker’s oatmeal packets. Now they are way too sweet for me and I am only happy making stove top oatmeal with nut butter 😉

That’s another great one! I had a packet a month or so ago (because that was the only option) and boy was I disappointed!
