Bart Yasso

I am totally lovin’ my new car!! It is so much fun to drive!! However, my Alero (my previous car) will always hold a special place in my heart. So many memories. (sappy. . . I know)

I spent the day at school getting ready for the first day of school next Wednesday. I typed up some notes for myself on things I need to cover with my students: rules, expectations, fire drill route, earthquake procedure, etc. and all that good stuff!! 😉

For those of you who don’t know, I teach physical education at three elementary schools in the Anchorage School District. This will be my third year of teaching.

After work today, Craig, Lindsey, and I met up at Bear’s Tooth to see Bart Yasso, an icon in the running world, speak.

Bear’s Tooth is a local favorite with a sit-down restaurant, a grill area, and a movie theater where you can purchase food and bring it into the theater to eat while you enjoy your movie. It is pretty unique and a very popular place to go!!

(I apologize these pictures are so blurry. It was dimly lit, so the pictures came out really grainy.)

The three of us split a blue cheese salad with pecans, grapes, and romaine lettuce. It was really good–and stinky–but not slathered in dressing, which I appreciated.

We also shared a Backpacker Pizza with artichokes, roasted red peppers, spinach, and kalamata olives. Bear’s Tooth is known for their pizza!! I was amazing as ever, and I especially loved the crust–my favorite part of any pizza!!

I had two pieces of pieces and a third of the salad.

Bart Yasso spoke and gave a slideshow presentation on places in this world his running has taken him–from Antartica to Africa to Death Valley. I would love to have his job–traveling around the world, running, and working for Runner’s World magazine. I can dream, right?

I meant to post about this the other day, but if you are a money-saver like myself and want to do some yoga at home for FREE, check this website out!

There are a variety of different yoga videos and sound clips you can download. Usually the free ones are only 20 minutes, but those 20 minutes really get my muscles stretched out–especially my calves, hamstrings, and hip flexors that are notoriously tight from running. Craig and I really enjoy Yoga for Weight Loss #2. I honestly don’t know if yoga will help you lose weight, but nonetheless it is one we enjoy.

I’m off for the night. Chances are I won’t be able to post in the morning because I need to be at school earlier than normal. 🙁

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.
