Grocery Cart

Sorry for the absence. Craig and I spent the weekend camping, so I was unable to blog.

Today has been pretty uneventful. I’ve spent the day cleaning, running, doing errands, and completing a little bit of baking.

My trip to the grocery store did yield these products for $25.88 with a few decent deals for the day.

– Blueberries – 4 pounds for $4.98

– Vine-ripened tomatoes – $1.48/lb.

– Kiwi 2/$1 (I remember when they used to be 4/$1 though!!)

– Kashi Cereal, Cookies, and Crackers – $2 each (on sale 2/$6 then a $1 coupon for each one)

For lunch I had a pita pizza along with some crisp carrots and oven-roasted zucchini and yellow squash. The pita pizzas are so quick and easy to make–and of course delicious!!

I topped a piece of pita bread with:

– ready-made pizza sauce

– dried basil and oregano

– one half had fresh spinach and fresh tomatoes

– shredded mozzarella cheese

Bake at 400 degrees until cheese is melted–probably about 5-7 minutes.

For dessert, I tried one of the Kashi Happy Trail Mix Cookies.

The nutrition facts are decent if you stick to one cookie.

I wasn’t too impressed by them. The consistency was chewy and I did like all of the different ingredients, but the taste was only mediocre. They definitely don’t compare to anything homemade!!

The ingredient’s list might be a little lengthy, but at least I can pronounce all of the ingredients.

Next it was time to bake some more muffins since all of the Whole Grain Glory Muffins vanished over the weekend. (No, I did not eat them all, I made sure to share!!)

I wanted to make something with the blueberries I had just purchased, so I whipped up some Blueberry Banana Muffins.

I love these muffins–so flavorful and healthy!!

Look at those juicy blueberries just waiting to be eaten.

This weekend I did give my nails a fresh coat of nail polish.

I love the fun names they come up with!!

Now off to watch The Bachelorette!! I wonder what scandals will arise this time!!

Hi, I'm Michelle

I love running around the lakes of Minnesota, running after my two boys, and racing anything from the 5K to the marathon. I have been blogging here since 2010 when I ran my first marathon. I finally secured my sub-3 hour marathon after trying for 8 years.

I wish I could pass along some of my kiwi to you! I was only going to buy three or four and I started to put the 40 cent kiwi into a bag when I looked and saw I could get two BAGS full of kiwi for one dollar….pretty amazing. When Jake got home he was like why do we have so much kiwi?! haha
